Hmmm.... they seem to go to the 'magical land of missing weights'.
Similar to 'the magical land of missing left socks'

2 Piece shaft looks awesome. was it custom or used from another vehicle?

advantages... doesnt hit the floor anymore, more angle. biggest benefit is with shorter diff gears, there is less likely hood of a tailshaft failure. due to the shaft spinning much faster, the single piece gets out of shape much easier due to the length of the shaft spinning. the shaft length is pretty much in half, so there is buggar all chance of the shaft getting out of shape and failing or falling out (which has happened)

The workshop that did my suspension presented this (cut & shut supports) as a way of lowering the car into the weeds while retaining decent suspension travel, but recommended against it as i wasn't going low enough. I wanted (and got) the tyre to sit slightly in the guard but if i wanted half the tyre buried in guard I would've definitely had to have had the supports extended. The guy who did the work has had them installed in the car he uses for towing (ED Fairmont) for years and hasn't had any issues at all.

And for those who think its dodgey, keep in mind that the weld is actually stronger than the metal itself provided the two sections being joined are properly prepared.

You don't cut material out, you cut the support in half and graft in a section to extend the support.

Just to add to this, the spring mount isn't classed as a suspension component, as it just sits there the whole time, it doesn't actually 'suspend' the car. It's exactly the same as someone welding the K-frame or fitting aftermarket rear suspension arms, as they're covered in welds.

On the odd occasion with a few people in the car or myself and a full tank of fuel and some stuff in the boot the diff/tailshaft will hit the floor. Only on hard acceleration 1st-2nd gear changes but. I guess the floor will eventually wear out and problem solved? He He

Nice job, I am getting this proffessionaly done as well for my EA SLS to give it better travel and stiffen it up a bit, I have set to low height at the moment and it works, but not as well as i would like.

Yep my diff used to hit all the time, then after a few 14.5s it never hit again, even once I turboed the car and had 271rwhp
