All he's done is rant, swear and been very subjective. He hasn't made one reference to the actual crash data or one objective comment.

If he is a professional engineer his behaviour is unbecoming of one. If one dares criticise him he resorts to personal insults.

He couldn't hold a candle to the guys who actually design cars.

Like the ones that designed Volkswagen diesels and transmissions then treat the Australian public that bought the crap boxes like second class citizens. Or the ones that designed the ford duel clutch transmissions and knowingly sold that engineering masterpiece to the unsuspecting public and pretty much denied there was a problem .And so on.

Yes, without a doubt. I'm sure the engineers conducted themselves professionally and with the best intentions.

How management handled it is another matter.

He only gets the clicks and interest with the way he behaves I guess.

It's his means to an end - good luck to him.

I shudder to think what his kids think ( if he has some ), his behaviour is really poor, and a poor example to young ones.

Funny how he thinks the occasional appearance on Sunrise gives him credibility...doesn't that mean the Cash Cow is like 1000 times more credible than he is?

Yes, what that says is that Hyundais are a no frills (or should that be thrills?) appliance that can be depended on. Fine if that's what you want in a car, but not everybody buys cars as a result of logic and rational thought.

Yes, Hyundais have come a long way since their introduction to Australia, such that they make decent reliable cars these days. But I'd still never buy one.

Has JC gone off his nut yet now that the Mercedes AMG-E63S comes with Drift Mode....wrong badge maybe???

Incidently, I'm sure I read in last weeks Herald Cars Guide that the current Holden Astra only has Lane assist tech available in the top spec model.

Does this mean that if anything other than the most expensive model was tested by ANCAP, it would also be only a 2 star car??

Happy to be corrected.

In general terms and not specific to Mr. Cadogan of whom I know nothing about, don't assume that engineering qualifications are enough. Graduates who have no work experience have qualifications. It is the relevant use of those skills that makes an engineer. If I needed to know something automotive then based on John's youtube efforts I would look elsewhere.

Can we stop talking about this opinionated and moronic fool. All it does is inflate his ego and draws more attention. Good or bad, it's irrelevant, he is a flat out attention seeker.

It hasn't had a negative influence on the true believers and the Catholic Church may be in decline in the West as is many religions but it's forging full steam ahead in South America, Eastern Europe and parts of Africa.

Publicity is about getting more sales or members, it's not aimed at the "true believers".

The church has had a decline in new numbers, as for South Africa, there hasn't been an enquiry.

Lane assist technology. Is that so tools can text and drive? I use voice to text over Bluetooth and my newest car is 22 years old.

I'm not a fan of him, but I can see why he does it. I'm also not sure why there hasn't been an issue from companies regarding how & what he says in his Videos - does anyone understand the legalities?

Having said that, I'm tipping he would probably be a funny guy to have a beer with.

I don't mind the way he reviews cars(most of the time), but when you have video dedicated to abusing random people who watch you video you know you've lost it.

There haven't been any issues because what he says is 100% true and the car companies know they cant defend it .

You all know Youtube policy states if he is being sponsored for what he spruiks he must say or display so in the video? If not he can have his account suspended.

Food for thought.

No I don't support him and am not agreeing with anything said, just merely pointing something out ;)

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned that Cadogan used to be editor of CarAdvice while he was employed as a consultant by Hyundai. If that wasn't a blatant conflict of interest, I'll give up. Did anybody see that declared at the time? Somehow, I doubt it.

His "discussion" of the Mustang's crash test result was hopeless. It performed poorly because of the "safety assist" rating (i.e. no autonomous emergency braking) and poor protection of rear occupants in the frontal full width collision test. A few years ago, those components weren't part of the assessment and, by those standards, the Mustang would have received a decent result (I'm guessing 4 stars, but haven't calculated it). By 2017 standards, the Mustang is a poor performer, but it's not the death trap Cadogan is making it out to be. Furthermore, the collision of the driver's head with the steering wheel isn't anywhere near as significant as he pretends due to the relatively low force of impact. He's a sensationalist.

I recall another video where he claims that the Subaru WRX has a more efficient engine than a Mercedes-Benz C 200 on the basis of "brake mean effective pressure". What absolute crap.

You may find that BMEP is what engineers use to quantify engine efficiency.

From wikipedia

The mean effective pressure is a quantity relating to the operation of a reciprocating engine and is a valuable measure of an engine's capacity to do work that is independent of engine displacement

So not absolute crap...
