Yes, depends on where you live, country /city. Rust belt coast or dry inland.

Imagined if it regularly snowed all over Australia, I reckon there would be even less old stuff due to salting the roads in winter.

I could count on one hand the amount of Valiants I've seen on the roads in Melbourne on one hand since I've had my license.

Yet when I went to Adelaide there seemed to be more oldskool cars out and about and especially Valiants.

It would be interesting to see vehicle on road data divided by state looking at Valiants.

Probably because there were lots of them when they were made there, and you must remember that Adelaide has only just left the nineties in the last couple of years,so they aren’t considered all that old yet.

No doubt SA not requiring an annual roadworthy helps, saying that, if you drive an unsafe vehicle you will be defected

Its interesting - you don't need an annual roadworthy in VIC either, only when you are buying and registering a used car.

It seems you don't even need that either in SA - thats the best thing ever

dont need it in WA either not even for buying a licenced used car
just for licencing one thats been unrego'd to see if its road worthy
or one thats been deemed by the poli that they feel its no longer road worthy

South Aust is the driest state,so it is understandable that rust isn’t anywhere near as big a problem, as in wetter states, which should ensure a bit of longevity in older cars

Those opel things they tried to pass off as Holdens.
I wouldn't have seen more than 10 since they first came out.

Took ages for me to see any when they first came out . Not seen heaps since but there is a silver one locally now I think because I've seen the same car a few times now .
On BA and AU Falcons ...We still have several around locally . There are more AU's though . At work there are three , mine is one of them .

Can't recall the last time I saw an eighties Nissan/Datsun . They used to be everywhere ..Same with Ford Escorts , Cortina's , Holden Torana's and Gemini's . Even early VB, VC and VK Commodores are pretty rare these days I'd say .

Like everybody else ...Inundated by SUV's ....

Even more modern Falcons are becoming rare on the roads these days...

FG G6, G6 Turbos, FG XR6 and XR6T's and rarely do I see any FGX's anymore.

Seems like everyone is ditching them for utes and SUV's.
