The Reason I was so thrown off was the boot, I'm just used to seeing that horribly over curved AU boot, the fairlane one looks much nicer.

tempted to transfer some cash to my brother in law and get him to put a few bids in In can tell you.

trouble is most auction vehicles have a good reason for being auctioned.

That is they couldn't sell retail or wholesale and there is mostly a reason for that that you don't want to find out after the auction.

At least the AU fairlanes look different to the falcons and fairmonts!

I think they look better than the BA fairlanes.

I don't mind BA Fairlanes so much anymore, especially the ones people are getting and putting massive wheels on. I saw this beautiful two-tone skyblue low-Km BAII LTD with everything and looking brand new at Harrison Ford in Melton for $39K. I sat it and thought for a moment......... maybe. But no, I love my AU.

The TL with the woodgrain is strange. I might pop over and watch the auction if I can get away from work.

yesterday i was at Pickles again. i seen the TL50 in person and it is a nice car (genuine as well). alot of the damage that is written isnt even noticable.
the GT-P that is up again was up for auction last tuesday. seen that in person too and is a nice clean car except for the bumper needs replacing.
as for the description of vehicles, the guy that auctions them, walks around to each car and describes it to the person writing the info down. he does all this off the top of his head and even knows the name of each colour and what equipment the car has.
the photos are usually taken where the car sits but some are driven from out the back, parked in the 'photo bay' for pics then driven to where it will be sold.
i can tell you now the TL50 is sitting OUTSIDE along with other cars such as R8s and Mercs.
fleet and prestige usually get the inside spots.

The au fairlane has nice CONTOURED rear seats not like the flat park bench of the BA fairlane. The AU fairlane looks heaps better then a BA. To bad I don't have pics of my sportsman. It was like a pornstar at the ford day in geelong couldn't believe the amount of people that stopped and looked. Not to mention take photos.

I like this thread as most people have been full of praise of the au fairlane. Much more style than the bland ba lane :thebirds:

Guess what - it didn't sell and is up for auction again on Tuesday 20/06/2006.

I've been having a little Pickles peek lately, and I've found their descriptions of the cars are hit and miss and their photos online often do the cars little justice.

One car I've been looking at with interest has the right colour named but misses out listing obvious attractive options. Often too I've found XR's WITHOUT climate control are listed with climate control or vice versa, sunroofs not listed, premium sound not listed and yes, sometimes the car sounds like crap with the damage description when in fact its barely noticeable (which I'd prefer), or they miss stuff. The description isnt that important except if you're using their search engine to locate stuff you might find interesting, lots of false alarms and misses unless you consistently browse all the vehicles and check the pics carefully.

A little more care might help them sell more cars online...

Paul at Pickles was saying yesterday to me that ALL cars that are in the Gov fleet/finance and repo section have a reserve. if it doesnt meet that reserve, it doesnt sell.
they couldnt care less if a car sells or not as they dont own them. they dont get any commission on the price of the car, just a fixed admin fee.
usually if you ring them up if your interested in a particular car they will go out and talk you over it and tell you about the car. most times the damage (dents and so forth) dont even exist as they have to give the worst case scenerio (for the most pickiest of people) so they arent ripping people off saying the car is 100% when infact its only 85%.
theyd rather talk the car down in the add so it will get more interest since buyers will think it will be cheaper.

I reckon the AU Fairlanes have gotten better looking with age. I remember when they first came out, I wasn't a huge fan of the squared off styling (particularily compared to the NL Fairlane it replaced), but now I reckon they look really tough. Just dump them on huge rims and they look great. The TL50 is awesome. The 18" rims look great on them and the subtle bodykit really improves the appearance. The interior is really nice, even though the woodgrain on this particular car doesn't look right. Hope they still have the carbonfibre parts for it. The T3 TL50 would be a real sleeper with the 250kW stroker.

I don't mind the BA Fairlane either. Sure the front looks too much like a Falcon, but the rear, despite sharing the same taillights has a unique appearance, looking quite different to the Falcon. The BAII was improved considerably with the new interior, better rims and other subtle changes, while the BF is better again. The BF Fairlane G8 is a great car.

But back on topic, I wish I had the money! I want that TL50!

All makes sense to me. Asking for better pics was hopeless. Even asking for more detail was a hit and miss affair, sometimes they'd respond, sometimes not. Cant be much incentive in it for them to spend time on it....

At least tho the websites open up interstate auctions to us in the 'other' states

Yeah that TL50 is gonna go cheap. I wouldn't mind a second TL50 as i already own one guys. That woodgrain suck big time and steering worn out bad.

I'm looking around for some big 20" rims at the moment for my TL.

BA/BF are the worse fairlane ever designed. Pretty much a stretch falcon with luxury items. So boring. They should have spend more time on it design and it would have got a better selling appeal. And Ford blaming petrol prices for it bad sales! Get Lost it got nothing to do with that. If 300C and Statesman are selling out the door then doesn't that tell them something. And FPV should have build the FPV Galaxie 540! That is a stunning car that would be a better seller then 300C.
