Talking Lincoln Continental on Display

Hi Guys, Gals, I will also be displaying the 1974 Lincoln Continental Mark 1V Coupe at the Holden Vs Ford Show - picked it up yesterday and will be detailing it over the next couple of days - I used to think my GT was a head turner - the Lincoln makes your head do a double take. Am offering it For Sale at the show, so if anyone of you have some spare cash, look me up.

Will be taking the Super Pusuit in next week to have the Carryboy Canopy put on it.

Ciao - James

Yes its possible.

On the Friday, the 2nd, THIS WEEK (better start cleaning) entrants can come in and set up from 8am to 10pm!

To get in as a display, you MUST have the letter, that was sent from AME.

So i would imagine as most of us work, we could all meet in the P6-D carpark at around 6ish?????????

Prolly make it easier if we all went in as a group..

Hows that?

Cheers

I will not be displaying with the club for this one - have a display with Aussie Auto Art for this show. I am going in early as I have to set up for 4 cars all together.

Thumbs down Not the Best of Shows

Hi Guys,

Feel that the AME show is not what I had expected this year. I had personally spoken to the promoters on many occassions and was led to believe that this years show was to be the best ever - what a letdown - it is more like a trade show with a few cars thrown in. From what I was told there were only 140 entrants as of Friday - not too hot for a major car show.

In my opinion, it should have been left as the Holden Vs Ford Show and it may have attracted a lot more entrants - Its billing as High Performance Motorshow is also questionalbe. I have attended ordinary Show N Shine events that have had a better quality of cars on show and a hell of a lot cheaper to enter.

Don't know what to expect next year, but I for one will not be attending unless the format of the show is changed.

Good to catch up with members from the Club and will see some more today.

Ciao - James

I have heard from a few other people it was a bit of a bit of a let down, it is a shame realy as it was always a good show to go to in the previous years.

I didnt go this year, but i blame the price to put cars in as the problem... Its just too expensive to enter your car!!! and unless you have a really modified or show type car, its just not worth it... in my opinion anyway...
I understand its expensive to hire those halls out there, but i think they are getting a bit greedy & cheaper entry would attact more cars, more cars would get more spectators or visitors through the door and they would still end up in front money wise at the end of the weekend..!!!!

Well done to Tracy & Brett for 2nd & 3rd in best Tickford :

in my opinion they need to go back to the Ford v Holden concept & get more clubs involved and as tickin said get the entry price down for next year. :

Regards,
Scott

Damn doesnt sound too good. Im kinda glad i didnt make the trip up to see it. They had more cars than that last weekend at the South Coast Nationals!

Anyway, you'll guys will have to come down to the ACT for our show! Last year i managed to get 100 fords, this year being combined with another show we should stretch to at least 300. The FPV & XR Show is a $10 entry for your sydney club members and that puts you in the running for a heap of trophies. Any other make or model car is free entry - but goes into the other show at the same venue.

We already have 150 clubs showing interest so it would be good to see you guys down here this year. And if you hurry you can get twin share rooms at Rydges Eaglehawk (off the Fed Hwy) for $85 per night.
Thats not to mention the three other events on that weekend, so id like to see sydney represented.

For more info

Thanks guys. It was a suprise to me I actually forgot about the judging thing. The show wasn't as good as last years and was smaller I thought but we still had good time with some good people there. I learnt that I do have an alarm in the car and Gary learnt there IS a pub just up the road.

Tracy and Heather.

Yeah, show wasn't as good as i hoped, but things can only improve.

Top weekend. Great time was had.
My highlight was telling the HSV club that their only good car was the F20, as its motor wasn't a holden, and was a Turbo 6.... : :monkes:

Next year we will have to remember that there is a very very quiet pub close by..........

I will speak to Gary and put in a good word for you, but it may be impossible to show you the pub as me and Gary may keep it as our special place. :
