Default Wheel mod? 99 Futura

Does anyone if removing the black plastic backing from these wheels is easy to do? aid in brake cooling? have any bad effects (dragging in gravel and rubbish to damage my new DBA slotted rotors)

I wouldn't remove it, it keeps all the brake dust off the rims

you'll really notice the difference once there r removed.

I took my off a couple of weeks ago and there hasn't been that much of a increase in brake dust. I've got 18" rims so I had a pretty big gap there anyway. You might notice a bit more brake dust than me as it would open it right up.
Cooler brakes, definately.
