I need to replace my ecu module, 4M5T 14B056 BF. It’s a 4 door sedan. Is one ending in BJ compatible? It’s possibly from a hatch. I know that I’ll have to get it reprogrammed to my car, but will it work?

Are you replacing the ECU or the RCM?

I’ve been assured it’s called the airbag ecu, or module. it’s located under the armrest, below the handbrake.

GT, Airbag Control Module is the name on the part. I’ve looked on eBay for the part that you provided and it’s a rcm for a 1.8, my Focus is a 2.0. The shape looks the same. I’ve lined up a BJ locally, so I think I’ll have a talk with the reprogramming guys.
Also, I have the lift up armrest... any idea how to remove the lid. There must be a simple trick, but I can’t get it. Cheers |

All, thanks for your assistance.
I have replaced the airbag ecu today. The one I got had BJ instead of BF at the end of the part number. I followed the rules, removed battery cable, waited 30 minutes and replaced the ecu. Importantly, it’s a ‘plug and play’ change over. No need to be reprogrammed which was a bonus. No airbag fault light anymore. |

That’s good, but maybe test the airbags to be sure?

I had an auto elect. run a diagnostic check and the system checked out. The old ecu was definitely faulty.
