Just by way of comparison, (think my calc's are correct, please correct me if not) I paid up for PB, sounds like I'm lonesome jack here, cost me $525 for min of 502Gb for 1 Year if you want third party rights, that's $0.95/Gb, but who needs 502Gb, I have 1564pics on PB currently, that's 0.5Gb at 320Kb per pic average, 0.12% of my limit on PB, for example if I have posted maybe 1000 pics on FFA, its currently costing me $0.31 a pic/year and getting less the more pics I post
Not happy about the way PB went about it, but am beginning to understand why they had to do something about freeloaders, myself included am waiting to see how things pan out before changing anything. I would rather pay the Forum to post my pics whatever the rate be, not sure about what the limit should be? maybe have a graduated scale? with a minimum payment of $50 per year for 5Gb and $10 per year for every Gb over that? After all that, $10 per Gb does sound fair My brain hurts Thanks for all your efforts Russel.

Costs me $1:50 a month for tapatalk, which includes third party linking.
Not online storage as such, but a really easy way of putting pics on forum posts. |

Being images sized for web based viewing, they average the recommended 200 - 300Kb in size. This means that I have only used 100Mb (0.1Gb) for AFF purposes. $10 per year for 5Gb of hosted storage on AFF servers is a steal as others have stated, and more than enough space than most members here will ever need for posting photos in AFF posts. The only downside I can see, to members who choose to use the AFF web space instead of a 3rd party host like Imgur, Pbase or others is that AFF have the same restrictions in place as Photobucket in 3rd party hosting as Russell has stated. i.e. AFF does not allow you to use the space to host your photos in other blogs or forums other than AFF. So for members here, that may also want to sometimes link their photos on Facebook, a blog or anywhere else on the web ... Then uploading to AFF web space may not be the answer for them. This sucks the big one, been using Photobucket for years, so all our build threads and photo posting is now gone FML, love how they can just change the goal posts like that.

I don't think anyone has an issue with PB wanting to cover costs and make a profit, that's the end game for any business.
To go from free hosting with millions of subscribers, all following their terms and conditions, to cutting all links and demanding a huge annual fee to reinstate them with virtually no notice is corporate theft. Basically holding everyone to ransom, pay up or else. I'm surprised there isn't talk of legal action, particularly in the US of A.

G'day .......SEE YA PHOTOBUCKET.. I just joined Flickr . Took about 2 minutes and away you go.. As the meerkat says "Simples"..
Flickr is easy and a bloody sight quicker and more straight forward than Photobucket even for a dufus like me. Photobucket can stick their 50 100 500 plan where the sun don't shine . Here's my first Flickr photo DSCF7062 by Rodney McGiveron, on Flickr Cheers Rod.. |

G'day all ...To use Flickr.. Bring up the website and click on Sign Up..
Fill out the relevant info , and create a password , click on next when done and they send you within seconds a five digit code via email. Enter code and click next and within a few seconds you get a "congratulations ' message and you're done. Go to Upload and files with photos open up.. Load desired photos into your new Flickr library . All you need to do is open library and go to Share photos icon . The URL comes up , click Control /C and then open up destination and click Control/V and it loads the photo in destination. Bloody quick..No more Photobucket for me.. Cheers Rod.. |

Besides all that , I was amazed how much easier Flickr actually is to join and use and I'm a total goose on a computer.. Highly likely Flickr and other similar outlets will need to find a way of counteracting Facebook but I hope when they do they find a more equitable way of doing it. Cheers Rod.. At least the Flickr Pro account is only $50USD/year if you wish to upgrade.
Much easier to swallow than PB's extortion rates.

Since there has been such a massive backlash to the US$400 plan and most certainly very few taking it up... Maybe we could do a "group buy" by writing to them and saying something along the following lines..
Dear Photobucket Support, Plan upgrade Proposal from the members of Australian Ford Forums. Many of our members here use Photobucket to host their images for inclusion in our long running forum for Ford fans. None of our members need 510GB as we only require space to host small web sized images and require 20GB at most. However we do require 3rd party hosting to imbed our images in our forum. Consequently none of our members are willing to pay the US$400 which equates to AUD$520 at today's exchange rate. However, if you are interested, we have many members who currently have free accounts with you who would be prepared to pay US$50 a year for just 20GB of storage space each with unlimited 3rd party hosting. If you are in agreeance to our "group buy" proposal, we will then provide you with a list of those members and their current Photobucket account names. We could start with a group buy of 50 accounts or so to start. You can then email each of them with the group buy offer, and a method by which payment can individually be made. We have over 100,000 members, and we are sure if this initial group buy is accepted, many members will take up the offer. Yours sincerely Australian Ford Forums "group buy" Co-ordinator Last edited by GO FURTHER; 13-07-2017 at 06:18 PM. |

Is there anyway to do an auto re-size when uploading from your iPhone?

Have you tried accessing the full site through the browser on your iPhone? Does iPhone allow that, I would have thought so. The mobile versions of most sites are pretty rubbish.

Did PB actually turn off your image links and then turn them back on? Do you have a plan in place if PB increase their fees again or drop off the internet altogether?

The other free deals are likely to start charging anytime soon too. I really think "go furthers" idea is a good one, maybe the AFF should make the approach to PB?

I've finally been bitten by PB. From what I've read here imgur, flickr looks like the best option or Google pics.
Unlike many other people though, the last thing I want is linked and synchronised photo storage with all my other stuff. Eg, Google+ with Google photos with Gmail with Microsoft outlook... Etc etc. I like having disconnected accounts etc. So I guess imgur is my best bet then...
