gday I have just purchased a 1973 mk1 escort (always wanted one to do up). a mate told me to join a forum as a way of getting in touch with other escort owners to get in contact with clubs and gettig tips off other people.
I havent used a forum before so Im learning as I go. currently I have my escort stripped (except the engine). Im cutting out rust and fitting patches. the engine is in excellent condition 1.6lt although not the original. it does come frome a mk2. the running gear needs a little attention but genrally good. anyway just thoght I would say hello and hope to talk to other escort owners in the future. Hello there!
I have a couple of Escorts myself, a big fan of them. Welcome to the forums, look forward to seeing photos of your Eski. Timmeh |

Anyway... Looks like you've got a great project there mate, any plans on hotting it up for some more go, or are you just planning on restoring it? Personally, I'd want to drop a warmed 2L under the hood, tweak the suspension a little, some good wheels on it, and the list goes on and on...

I am planning on putting a 2L of some sort under there. but that is a lot further down the track as the 1.6 that is in it at the moment is in top condition. At the moment all I am concetrating on is cutting out the rust and preserving the body. If any one has any tips on fixing up rust spots and prevention I am all ears. To answer Zetec question I bought it from a lady in wodonga whos late husband was planning to restore before he died, and it hasn't been driven much in the last five years.
