So you guys get less than the published economy rating during spirited driving? I guess we must have a different definition of spirited

No, I'm using almost a litre more than the published combined figure (overall) in a Fiesta ST. one of the cars that the OP is considering. And I drove the wheels off the thing cos I'm just as much of a hard old campaigner as you are! :P

Doesn't matter how anyone cuts it, hot hatches are pretty damn economical these days, which makes it easier to concentrate on the pros and cons of the rest of the package.
