Same thing with 2007 Honda Jazz, the reason why they stopped offering a CVT in it, one service it requires a flush, 7L to fill, requires a fill, drive, then dump the oil and refill again, 14L - $1400 in oil alone not allowing $700 on top for the rest of the service.

Interesting reading from the beginning. I have a 13y/o Falcon XR6 and a 28y/o BMW, both manuals. Darwin is not that big but it was still difficult to find the right mechanic to work on the vehicles.

The guy who currently looks after both vehicles is in his late 40's early 50's. His training was 7 years with Ferrari at Modena then 12 or 13 years at an Adelaide BMW dealership before moving to Darwin. He does not specialise in any particular type of vehicle and his guys are trained to work on all and sundry vehicles that come into the workshop, which is always spotless. Work ceases at 1530 hrs each day and everyone does their part to clean the workshop and tools ready for tomorrow.

He has Mk11 FG's, VE and VF commys, Current Camrys, Eand A series Falcons, Jags, Porsche, Mg's and of course BM's in his yard. He is an old school teacher with modern thinking and equipment. Anything replaced is held to show you what the problem was before being thrown out.

Is he cheap, no. Not at $110 / hour but there is a saying within the BMW community. "If you think a good BMW mechanic is expensive, wait till you use a bad one"

Cheers Vincenzo
