A man just can't drive down a public road with a skin full of grog, hundreds of dollars in outstanding fines and an unroadworthy car anymore! What is this world coming to?

So when Citylink was contacted, they politely said "No problem, we'll check the records" "Only problem is, those records have been archived and we have no staff to check them, so we will require around 6 weeks to get back to you......" Can you speak to the Department of Justice and inform them of that? "Sorry, due to privacy reasons, only you can speak to DOJ regarding your issues...................." Are you bloody serioussssssssssssssssssssssssssssss?????????????? ?

Now add to that the recontacting of Justice Vic, blah blah blah and the whole concept of having private organisations issue fines and another misinformed department enforce them ***** me to tears!

/end rant
Now thats got me a touch concerned. I know that the previous owners of my car racked up a decent eastlink bill and I had to take my rego transfer papers into eastlink to prove it wasnt me so I could use it. Hope the sherriff knows all that.

Might be worth getting a statement in writing to ensure you are not made a victim.
Maybe the sherrifs office might be worth a preemptive visit as well.

In NSW they aren't quite a drastic as that.

Unpaid fines go straight to the State Debt Recovery Office (SDRO.) If the fine isn't paid on time you are no longer allowed to do business with the RMS (formally the RTA).

This means that they can cancel your license and rego.

No nasty clamps, you just get to drive with no rego or license
