in vic.. its 100mm. exhaust and every thing counts.. However, it has to be measured 1m foward or rear of any axel... so those little hooks near the rear trailing arms dont count
YAY! I was gonna grind those buggers off (they're the only bit thats too low at the moment besides the exhaust), but if they don't count then awesome!

ive had that happen even at low speeds with a couple of mates in the car, but my towbar was scraping.

my exhaust hits those little yellow humps in the road used to divide the two lanes. pretty funny when you hit one at about 60km/hr, doesnt make you feel to good.

i also got stuck on a drive way once while doing a pizza delivery for my uncles shop, had to get everyone out of the car including my self and just blip the accelerator to get to unhook its self. unfortunatly i ripped off the exhaust at the first muffler!

my mates vl is heaps low at the back but its still legal, it looks lower then my car but when you look underneath its still higher then mine,

oh well im reasonably happy with the ride height because i seem to get compliments about it from a couple of people i know.

in s.a the lowest point of the car has to be 100mm from the ground. my exhaust definantly aint and i doubt the chassis rails are either.

Um, if you have cut springs of any kind your car is illegal no matter how low it is. But yes, according to vic-roads modified vehicle regulations the lowest point of the car has to be 100mm from the ground. (a ciggie box is 90mm so if u can drive over that u should pass) Although i know with my Falcon the centre muffler with a full tank of fuel will be lower than that and i only have lowered it 30mm

there superlows all round, and i do have good shocks in it too, but then i chopped off half a coil off the back because i wasnt happy with it, now the front looks higher then the back, i wish i had a pick of it, i could show you how low it actually is.

There's some conflicting info here in regards to the victorian rules. I was always led to believe by many people that if anything on your car hangs below 100mm, it isn't legal. Some say it is only measured 1m fore or aft any axle on the car. I'm confused (again LOL), which is correct?

i actually thought it had to be 10mm clearance to 1m either side of an axle, and could be a little lower by a percentage or something outside of 1m (only a little in the middle) the actual rule is written by some english scholar who specialises in confusion methinks...

Well, you could ring the organisation who actually wrote the rules ;)

Default its 100mm

The Police TMU have a 100mm high metal bracket that they slide under your vehicle, and nothing is allowed to hit it. My mate was done in his silvia, becuase the dump pipe from the turbo was hanging like 2mm too low.

My EL has superlows all round, and my cat sits right on 100mm with no one in the car. If they measured it with 4 adults, I would be illegal.

The coke can rule would work, but a coke can is about 130mm high too. However, another common house hold iten is a dunny paper roll.. exactally 100mm high standing on its side!

Since I live in SA, I checked out there website, this is what I found:
Quote:
A motor vehicle or combination must have a ground clearance of:
a. For any point in the width of the vehicle which is within 1 metre fore and aft of any axle - 100
millimetres;
b. For the midpoint between the two axles - 0.033 times the distance (in millimetres) between the two
axles; and
c. For any other point – at least the distance that allows the vehicle or combination to pass over a peak in
the road with a gradient on either side of 1:15, if the wheels of 1 axle of the vehicle or combination are
on the slope on one side of the peak and the wheels of the next axle are on the slope on the other side.
Doesn't mention about people in the car.

Right, yeah it was probably the "hunks" in the car that helped to lower it

As for me, I now wonder how low the springs I have sitting in the spare room will make the EA go. I think I will get my Pedders buddy to stick them on for me, on the front for now :
