I'm looking at buying the dell streak out wright, and going to Telstra, I have been told it won't work on Telstra(the next g speed), thus I'd have to go with Optus, which i don't want, because I actually believe in paying good money for a reliable service, unlike my current provider, Three...

That is probably correct, as Telstra operate at a different frequency to the other carriers. I doubt it would only be optus that you can go through though........
