Evening all, i've got my 45,000km service overdue as i was waiting on getting these in... my brakes have been feeling a little slack lately so i figured i'd go for the popular DBA slots and EBC greenstuff pads that a few of you have. Also i got in the mobil 1 oil that comes highly recommended from melbzetec. only thing is as i work during the week the earliest my ford dealer can fit me in is 20th march on a saturday, good news is they said they are happy to use parts supplied by me.
Damn i wanna try these brakes out tho lol. Basicly thanks for the forums for the advice from all the previous topics and thanks to Race Brakes Sydney for Matt's super fast shipping ended up costing for what you see in the picture about $940 delivered to my door in Adelaide  |

940 for all corners? Mines due for new brakes soon. Going to hurt the wallet i think!

fitted the front brakes today, i'll prob look at the rear ones in a week or two as im starting work again now.. My old pads were down to pretty much nothing!
The New pads and rotors feel alot better but i'm yet to really push them. Each time i pull up it smells of fresh brakes

I've got a similar setup but with Bendix heavy duty. Cost me about 700 from Supercheap.

I'm liking the look of your new brakes!
This topic has probably been covered somewhere before, but are the new brakes just for improved stopping or are they good for reduced brake dust too? We have an '08 focus that has done just under 20,000 ks and altho the brakes still feel fine, the amount of brake dust is crazy. I am looking at doing some mods soon, including lowering and wheels, but am already sick of cleaning off the brake dust off the factory rims, i will be doing it every second day if i get new ones!! |

yea i can confirm it improves both. I've already noticed how good these are with the dust... just a tiny bit been generated on the caliper but none on my wheels
so im happy!

ok i got my rear brake pads fitted on the weekend so now i have full dba slots and ebc green pads all round.
however pulling up now, for example at lights, my brakes scream at me. i know there is some bedding in noise however there is heaps at the moment. under hard braking you cant hear it its normally just as you apply the brake or only apply it a tiny bit. Is this something that should go on for 50-100kms when new or more like the first 500-1000kms. Im just not sure with these more street performance brakes. -Thanks, Luke p.s. the braking is wayyy better than before |

My brakes were absolutely SCREAMING when I first had them in. I rang the place that fitted them for me and they said it is normal, and that it will continue until they are completely bedded in. The bedding in procedure is on the EBC website, under 'technical.' There is lots of good brake information there too. Basically, the EBC Greens are firmer pads and really need to be heated up to get them bedded in properly. A few bedding in cycles may also be needed. If not, I'd imagine the noise would last for the first few 100km's.
Also, the brakes place said that if the bedding in did not completely resolve the noise, they could shave a fine layer off the pads, and then re-install them. |

Have to start ringing around - Once I recover from rego this week!
My mate on his ute changed rotors to slotted (not sure of brand of rotors or pads) and within about 5-600kms it was sorted

Rears are still screaming on mine. Been on for 6 months
They need a bit of heat in them to work well. Slow moving traffic and the rears squeel slightly all the time as no real heat being generated. |

That's the exact problem - the rears don't experience as much braking force. If I had to replace my brakes again, I would go for the EBC Ultimax on the rear, but keep the Green pads on the front.

has anyone had red stuff pads? just wondering if they would squeak less, or are they all the same and need to be worn in for a few hundred kms?

all the boys on xr5turbo.com lose their loads over redstuff.
I ran greens in my LR and loved em. I think however, when i bedded them in after installing, i may have heated them a little too much. Did the usual, drive very gently to a quiet and long street. Drove real slow while left foot braking gently to get a little heat in them, then did a few really hard stops (from just about flat out in 1st) but um.... after the last really hard stop they were smoking real bad  : If fact i jumped out of the car with my fire extinguisher expecting the worst. They were fine however, think i might have come close to glazing them though. And they never squeaked funnily enough, except when stone cold and under very light braking.
