Exclamation wrecking XR8 AU - checking for interest

My AU wagon (with XR8 Tickford 220kW engine & 5-speed box) was rear-ended on the weekend and has been written off under insurance. Just trying to find out if there's any interest from anyone out there who would want to buy any of the undamaged parts from it. Trying to decide which way is better financially, i.e. wreck it off or just get rid of it as a whole car.

The gearbox has been completely re-built about 3 or 4 months ago by Top Cogz Caloundra (who was recommended to me by Chris Hollingworth).

The full exhaust system (including extractors & cats) was done in November by Fat Pipes Kallangur - it's a 2.5" system.

Interior is dark grey and in really good nic' other than the hood lining in the boot (ripped by my pram being flung against it in the accident).

It's got the XR8 nose cone & guards. All other panels are decent (apart from the back of the car & driver's side rear 1/4 of course!).

So, can you let me know if there's something you would be after and what you would be willing to pay for it, so we can make a decision. Hate to see it written off, but it's not financially viable to repair it unfortunately.

We're on the north side of Brisbane, but happy to post anything anywhere if you're happy to pay for the postage. There's a good courier company just around the corner who are reasonable with prices too.

Here's a link to my post with pics of it when it was all finished recently .....

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11208264

Thanks.

Sorry to hear what happened.
I will take the front passenger side headlight and front passenger side indicator if you are wrecking it.

Hey everyone ..... we still haven't decided whether to wreck the XR8 off or not, depends on insurance co.'s answer on monday.

If we do decide to wreck it off, we're going to try and do the larger parts as complete parts (ie, with the smaller things still attached, like engine covers, etc.).

MADED-6 - there's a great courier company called Pack N Send in Strathpine that will send just about anything anywhere if you ever find parts that you can't drive to get to. Another guy is in front of you at mo' for the manual conversion if we wreck it off.

I will keep everyone in mind if we go down the path of wrecking it off.

I really just wanted to see if therre was any interest in the car parts so as to help make the decision on monday.

So, thanks everyone for your interest and we'll post / PM on Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks again. A.

Default Complete car sold now. Thanks.

Hiya everyone. We've actually managed to sell the complete car to a couple of guys who are going to share the parts, etc. Obviously, this is an easier way for us to get rid of the car (although not as financially beneficial)!! LOL

Thanks heaps for everyone's interest and time.

I'm jumping ship from the XR8's unfortunately and getting a Ford Territory turbo. Hope it's as much fun. We should be putting the rims off the AU XR8 onto the Territory (maybe with different tyres???).

Les at Fat Pipes in Kallangur (Brissy) is keen to go with a full new exhaust system for it as soon as I get some more coin! He reckons he can get a really nice note & a bit more power for me.

I don't know a lot about the Territory turbos, so I guess I'll be reading up in the other section of Ford Forum.

Enjoy your rides guys & see some of you on the road!!

Mumma A.

Mod - can you please close this post. Thanks.

Considering the last post in this thread was 18 months ago or so I doubt you'll have any luck here.

Post #5 (by me) in THIS thread is where you can find one.

He gets points for using the search function though!

Maybe this thread should be closed?
