AU XR headlight looms?

Can anyone tell me if the headlight looms are the same for the different xr series? i'm fitting an au1 xr front to my forte and only both large headlights are working. all globes have been tested and working fine the pins on the main loom connector on the headlights have darkened from not being used.

Just cut and splice as you need - I remember having to do this when I put the XR front on my wagon.

I rewired the entire headlight loom of my ghia when I put the xr front on it.

I ran new circuit breaker, relay and much thicker cable (I also soldered the joints).

If you are running standard wattage globes all you'll need to do is to splice into your existing high beam wiring and run that to your second headlight (on each side).

You can use your existing connectors on the 6 1/2" lights but you'll need to swap the spades around (I can't rem which way was which but it is obvious when you look at it). I also had spare connectors which I used for the 5 3/4" sealed beams I used.

Try to think of it as if you're mounting driving lights (which is in effect what the 5 3/4" headlight is).

When I did mine I just unplugged the standard lights and plugged in the xr lights, easy as that.

When I did mine the connectors between the models for the 6 1/2" were configured differently (one was configured "L" spades and the other had parallel spades). Mine also didn't have existing cabling for the extra 5 3/4" lights - as with most people I had to make it.

Sounds like yours was much easier.

mine was just plug and play as well....but that was taking the xr loom on the back of the light and plugging it straight into the existing standard plugs, not sure what series the lights were from but the car is a series 2.

Actually you are both right... my apologies.

I'd forgotten that I'd converted aftermarket headlights to fit the XR frames and both the 6 1/2" and 5 3/4" connectors on mine are different.

The standard H4 globe is the same (therefore the same connectors) on the standard non-XR and the standard 6 1/2" XR headlights.
