My bro bought a set of tickford immitations rims for his AU. Within a month it started to discolor and eventually started to flake off. Managed to flogg them off and bought a set of genuine rimms.
The only after market rims i would consider would be the reputable brands such as simmonds and the like. IMO most of the immitation rims are rubbish and couldnt see myself fitting them on my GT.

Actually, I had the opposite. I'd ordered a car in a colour I hadn't seen before and the wheel choice really set the colour off. I felt a whole lot better seeing the combination.

nope, no regrets... had been looking for wheels for ages, and everything else was just too common... found my wheels on ebay (albeit in adelaide) and just had to have them.....

being 18x8.5 and 18x10, they fill the arches out perfectly....have just the right amount of dish on the rears, and are something quite uncommon....

just have to get the bit of gutter rash taken out, or new rim outers if possible and they'll be mint....

not sure if we're to post pics in this thread but meh.....

I rang Simmons to get some Alta's made up for my E series and they told me they are not making any wheels. In any size or type.

All they had were FR19's or FR19's...

And that's not third hand Chinese Whisper either...I rang them and confirmed after getting the run-around.

So if anyone has any 17x8 Simmons in Alta or OM to suit an E series they want to sell...PLEASE PM me...

I bought a set of 17 inch ANZ Chrome FTR copies for my EF, only regret was i didnt do it earlier.

Can understand shelling out for 18-20 inch rims and still not being happy with them, though i would never go bigger than an 17...

Actually, one thing that has made a difference with what wheels I buy is that a lot of the cars I've had have quite unusual PCDs, I've had two Fiesta with 4x108 which is difficult to find 17s, and my Alfa was a joke with a 5x98 PCD. It means I usually research a lot before I decide on a design.

i have`nt but my mate bought some cheap after market wheels for his el and had no end of trouble with them, balanced one week shaking the next, even after having the front end done up same thing, this went on for 2 years, he bought some factory ghia wheels no more problems, since i have become a big fan of getting brand name qaulity after market wheels or factory wheels.

what is important to me in picking rims is that not only must look good stationary...that goes without saying, and most rims look good stationary, BUT how many look good while spinning on the road. you would be surprised how many wheels lose their looks while spinning. get someone to drive your car down the road with your alloys on to see what they look like.

(mr moderator let me know if i have overstepped my limits in new threads please)

I know what you mean there, I like rims with a bit of shape between the centre and rim, kill me for saying it, but the new HSV rims, ROH Mantis and pretty much anything Lambo do it for me in the rolling stakes.

Yep, they'll be collectors items now. And don't bother with ROH either...I tried to get some wheels out of them too and they wanted me to wait AT LEAST 16 weeks for their 'modular' wheels and they don't even cast in the foundry in Adelaide anymore. I guess they wait to fill batch orders from China or Malaysia or whoever is casting all the wheels in the world now.

Being an old fart I don't want any blinged up Chinese 20 inch chrome thief magnets either.

If you were to regret your choice, it was probably an impulse buy. I always think hard about what would look good before I buy and am usually stoked with my choice.

I have a love / hate relationship with mine that goes around in a circle. Sometimes I get bored of them because they are simple, then one day I see it from another angle and feel happier again.
