Nothing big? I disagree. That's great news. Ford is on the way up for sure.

I want to see their Hybrid come here and kick the butt ugly, over rated Prius off it's green-religion pedestal.

Think Ford's got a few things going for it in the US:

1) American's a very patriotic and will rally around domestic product,
2) They're the only one of the Big Three that look like they'll be able to survive without going into CH11 (i.e. Consumers will be less concernd about the value of their warranties going forward) and;
3) Their recovery strategy is based on Product. They're pushing the improved fuel economy and quality of their vehicles (As opposed to the world changing Volt over @ GM).

All this and they don't have Fiesta yet!

That is great news, well done Ford, now to keep the momentum going and turn these sales into profit.

18,321 Fusions sold just in April!!! Holy crap, the BEST MONTH EVER for this car.

I guess the styling and improved quality, fuel economy, and reliability rating is starting to get known. I am sure the Ford Advantage Plan helped too.

There's a reason to have some optimism. More sales than Toyota. Hey! The media is reporting that too!!! What do you know?

Great to see, and it proves that if Ford in the US can topple Toyota, anybody can.

Once Taurus goes on sale, Ford have the potential to, if they haven't already, topple GM from the top of the US Sales race.

Good to see, and I look forward to more good news from Ford.

As optimistic as I would like to be, "one month in a row" does not make a roll. Let's keep our heads. :

The Ford Advantage Plan runs until June 1st. If sales are still on a rise after that it will be a lithmus test proving that it's not just the security of what happens if a buyer loses their job but also the attractiveness of Ford's vehicles. I would like to see Ford's sales do just a touch better in May. That would show progress and confidence, and with the removal of the Advantage Plan in June I would like to see sales be at least as good as April or May. It's kinda like taking the crutches away to see if she can stand on her own.

I am very confident that the sales of the Fusion demonstrates an appreciation for the new look and the accolades it has been getting in the press. I am also surprised that 40% of Fusion sales are hyrids, especially since the price of gas is half of what it was last summer and Camry and Prius Hybrid sales are in the tank. Toyota can't give them away.

I didn't hear anything on my local news about Ford's sales being down by 32% last month while Toyota's sales were down 42%. When US car company's sales are in the 40% range it is all over the news.

Maybe why they can't give away the Toyota hybrid stuff is because, those people buying are now buying Ford Fusion Hybrids?

Here is a link to respected GoAuto on Ford outselling Toyota.

Hybrids have not been selling since gasoline dropped down to $2 a gallon. When it was $4 a gallon they flew off the lots. While gasoline is more affordable people buy what they really want......not hybrids.

The Prius has a reputation for sacrificing in order to be green. Its not a particularly well built car. Toyota went cheap on it in order to cut the amount that they lose on each one because of the cost of the hybrid technology. Also, it is a compact car.

Camry hybrid.....I would guess the extra cost is the deterrent, but the Fusion hybrid starts at $1,000 higher than the Camry hybrid, but then again you get more.

I am thinking the combination of both the new styling and the leap over the Camry in fuel economy, as well as the accolades for the Fusion hybrid being more seamless and a better car, has prompted people to drive one, which results in buying one.
