I can believe the quarter mile time but i'm not buying the 0-100 in 1.5secs...seems physically impossible in a car of that weight power (traction?). To put this in perspective a 1000cc sports bike does 0-100 anywhere from 2-3 seconds depending on rider. Seems absurd a big fat car could beat this. Prove me wrong Bugatti.

no road tyre in the world is getting a 2 tonne car to 100kph in 1.5 seconds.

no chance it will get into the 8's. high 9's MAYBE.

beautiful car but, as if they weren't exclusive enough!!

They already do high 9's. My guess is low 2's 0-100km/h and mid 9's down the quarter. Depending on the gearing, they may sacrifice performance down low to get more top speed. I don't think Bugatti would have been happy that an american car took their title as the worlds fastest car, and this may be just an excuse to reclaim that title.

Unbelievable, but those times are hard to comprehend, just have to wait and see one in action

They probably will make faster and faster cars, however there has to be a limit to what the human body can withstand..? I would love to take one of these around the track, like Ricky Bobby "I just wanna go fast!"

Topgear claimed each original Veyron cost about twice as much to make as they sold for, wonder what the ratio would be for that beastie?

The top end of town will weather this economic chrisis we are seeing now. There is a market for the mega cars, now and in the future.

Good on them for building such an outrageous vehicle. If it can be called that. Hell, it will be more powerful and faster than MOST dedicated race cars...! Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 'average' F1 car do 1-100 in low to mid 2's, and the 1/4 in high 9's low 10's....? Oh, and top out at under 400.....

Love the look, love the exclusivity, and love the concept.

Outrageous, unshackled, politically incorrect excess at it's best!

Me thinks a fighter pilot is a tad closer to the 'threshold' than the fat bloke with 2 mil to drop on a mega car ever will be...?

I did a rough calculation based on the old simplistic "it takes 4 times the power to go twice as fast" statement. And based on that it looks as if the new car should be able to do the new claimed top speed with that mega motor.

I'm surprised you lot aren't discussing what mods you'd do to it, squeeze a bit more out of it, you know what these conservative car companies are like, sacrificing performance for reliability and comfort.

Yes Volkswagen do build these at a substantial loss, but a car like this is not built to make money, it is more like a road legal concept car that actually gets sold. Purely an engineering experiment. The fact that they are willing to upgrade it, and that they are planning a new one in a few years is the truly astonishing part.

Haha touche! But we are talking about totally different conditions. Skies vs. Road, althought the physics of G-Forces still apply you can get away with more in the air, as your aren't governed by traction. I guess I was really getting at the overall drive-ability... Only so much power you can keep down.

Love to be proved wrong

That's the scary thing - the original and "slow" version has ~1000BHP
