This tells the story though. Ford have a superior car in the FG and its still getting massively outsold by a piece of garbage. Which ever way you look, take into account profit margins or whatever, the simple fact is that Fords sales and marketing team have massively FAILED.

If you can barely sell half as many of a superior product something is massively wrong. When are Ford going to clean out their sales and marketing teams and start over fresh, cause the clowns they have now are useless.

You still need to add Territory and Falcon ute to the 31936 to get a clearer picture. Anyone got those figures for the year?

Because Europeans typically like vehicles that steer and handle well. We ALL know on here that Toyotas don't hold a candle to most cars on sale and especially not those that were developed in Europe.

Shame most Australians don't realise that or just how well the big Aussie Falcon or Commodores handle.

PS I drive several imported utes and also the local products for work on a regular basis. The difference between the driving is staggering. Not to mention much quieter and refined. The Aussie utes are so much better.

IIRC The Territory sold about 12,000 units last year. The Falcon ute was marginally (less than a 1000) outsold by the Commo ute. Both were in the 12-13,000 ballpark.

So, the difference is roughly halved from about 20,000 to 10,000. ie Holden 65k to Ford 56k.

Unfortunately, the premiers of their respective state/territories would have a coronary, if people bought cars that handled well..... and handled well enough to get you out of tricky situations, instead of sliding right in...!

Strangely government fleet purchasers tend to spend the lest on optional safety features.

Wrong, Brands can change when ever they want. A few example are surf brands such as world industries. went from $60-70 a shirt to $5 at target?

Public perception is all that needs to be changed. If they are only making enough cars to provide the public with there obviously not losing money on making an extra car to sit in the lots doing nothing. Retailers might die, But you think ford really care about that? Look at the service departments and all the disappoints that people get from dealers. Won't get that crap from bmw, mercedes and higher class cars would you?

I see it as "weeding" out the crap "bringing" in the new.
