Default Help on oil pan

Changing my oil pan gasket on my au i6. Would like to know what are the bolts on the side of the pan are. Do I take them out and if so do I take them
Out first or take the top ones out first.

yes you do take them out they bolt throught into the main bearing caps there for extra strengh just like a 4bolt main really you have to tension those up when they go back in to.....
