Default V8 Wagons??

Hi all. About 12 months ago i called in to Broadford Car Sales (i do about twice a month), and i found a really nice EL Fairmont Ghia wagon - with a 5 litre in it. I couldn't believe my eyes!!! I didn't even think that ford were still putting V8's in wagons. And, this one was full of leather, had EVERY option, 190 something kms on the clock - and a $3990 price tag!!!

I said to the guy there that i'd never seen a later model V8 wagon before, and he said that they've had quite a few come through, and that they're not uncommon. So i'm just putting this out to see how many of you guys have found/seen/owned one of these. I occasionally look around on the net - but i've never really found any.

Cheers - Coxy

There was no such thing as an EL Ghia wagon.

Must have been a Fairmont or a faker!

It was definately a Fairmont, but i could have possibly imagined that it was a Ghia though. All of the options it had were ridgy-didge. No pretend stuff in it. It had courtesy lights everywhere, cant remember what sort of trimming it had, electronic climate control, cruise etc. etc. But i was just dumbfounded to find a V8 in a wagon. It had all the details on the windscreen, and i thought "5.0 litre?? Nah, they must've stuffed up.", so i popped the bonnet to find the windsor stuffed into the engine bay.

I love my wagons!!

There are e-series V8 wagons going around. Just very few and far between.

But chances are the one you saw was a Fairmont.

I'm pretty sure EL Fairmont wagons did get the V8 option, so that's probably what you saw

Yeap there are a couple of EL Fairmont V8's getting around Geelong that are in mint condition, I reckon that are Ford employee cars and they have held onto them.

Both have the Fairlane cornering lamps in and are pretty specced up.

There used to be a V8 EB II Ghia wagon in the Club... very rare indeed. Makes perfect sense though, V8 torque plus leaf springs = ideal towing machine.

True, and you get to travel in "limousine" comfort, with enough space for a waeco fridge for some chilled "travellers" too! I like the idea that you can chuck all your stuff in the back and lockit up, or you can sleep in it with room for two. Its a bit of a bummer that they're so rare.

I had an ED GLi V8 wagon... but I cheated and converted it lol. EL Fairmont V8 wagons definately exist, I have seen a few around the place.

I saw one ( EL fairmont 5.0 wagon) a few weeks ago, gunmetal grey, scratches, bashed in quarters and swirls from sideswiping a truck, plus the interior was ratshit.
such a shame...

Plenty of Fairmont wagons in EL and they did have a V8 option which wasn't all that popular 165kw V8 or 157kw six probably explains it. No fairmont ghia wagoms though in EL.

AU Fairmont wagons was the last to have the V8 as an option.

The last Ghia wagon was the ED.

The top one isn't working, but its a red EB GLi V8, somewhere in VIC. There's a few hiding in the trading post too.
