Australia means very little on a world scale. We contributed probably only 1% to the whole "coalition of the willing", despite what a lot of Aussies think. Of course our local media big ups Australia. :yeees:

MrQuan, I am aware on the world scale of things where Australia lies. Within the movie however Michael Moore made a point of listing the smallest countries that were with "the coalition of the willing" A lot of these contries I personally would describe as third world countries (much smaller than Australia, with little or no actual contribution other than their agreeance to the situation) Australia was not mentioned once throughout the movie and we really have not made that "small" a contribution. My point is if that peice of infromation was missed, what else was missed?

And Guys,
I did not mean for this to turn into a labour vs liberal thing.
It just opened my eyes to other possibilities.
And just for the record I am very angry at John Howard about the kiniblar thing. (that has nothing to do with the liberal thing, just Mr Howards ego and attitude.)

Probably a lot more, but Mike is out to show the whole war on terrorism thing in a different light, not to create a blow-by-blow journal of events.

Well my comment wasn't exclusive only to Media. Media stretch the truth and out-right lie at times, but that wasn't what I was refering to in particular.

I was referring to the government/media representation of the government, compared to the 'out-there' opposition and activists. Both have an opinion influenced by the agenda they're trying to push, so you'll never get the truth by listening to just one side.

The truth lies between the two extremes. Listen to both sides of the story and then give it an educated guess - most of the time that's about as close as you'll get to the truth.

Couldn't agree more, I class Moore Gems as media rather than Movie doco's as I class all the spin doctoring media hype that both parties pump into print, your letterbox and the electronic media.
Unfortunately its rare you can get two honest opposing view, rather media presents a numerous selection of tainted slop, with the more emotive or sensational option always given the most media credence. Any opinion formed on what has been dished up is likely a little tainted. With a little thought and the ability to see any problem from someone elses opinion you can eventually work out what is and what isn't fact.
As for Mr Moore, if I wanted a one eyed opinion I'd rather get one from our selection of home grown fanatics. Soon his 15 minutes of fame will be gone and he'll be back on US B-grade cable where he truely belongs.

Haven't seen it yet, but I will. Bowling for Columbine was great. I'm sure this is even better. Michael Moore gets a big thumbs up.

I think Michael Moore is pretty ok, he at least tries to show some of the corruption, even if he's not the greatest person to do so. The thing is that of COURSE he is vilified by the media and governments in power and been shown to have done awful things... it keeps your mind off what he's saying, doesn't it?
