Default AU Power Windows HELP

Hi People.
This is my first post on this site and I'am after some Very Needed help. I have a AU Series 1 Forte Sedan X Police and I want to fit power windows to it, but I have been told that I would have to replace the WHOLE wiring loom to do it as it did not have the same loom as the Futura. I do know that I have to replace the looms in the doors.
My Question is has anyone done this to there Series 1 and what problems did they have.
Can somebody HELP ME PLEASE??????????.
Cheers GREG

You will need to buy or make up the door looms. And you might possibly need to replace the whole wiring loom, as you might not have the plugs, to plug the door looms into. You could bypass this, and run your own looms, to connect the door looms, to get power. You will also need to include a relay somewhere, as you wont be connecting it up to your BEM (unless you upgrade it). This way, you can still have the 60 second, power delay.

On top of that, you will need switches, bezels, door trims, motors/regulators.

Your not going to get much change from $1000.

Cheers

I cant believe it would cost that much to add power windows.... glad mine had the fronts when I bought mine. but then again after the probs with my wifes AU with the front windows on her car makes you wonder if its worth it.

mine work excellent, hers keep jamming and we are constantly lubricating the slides on her car with graphite, never have had too on mine.... strange

My windows were fine until I had them tinted, now they jam and just stop. Tried Vas in the tracks, stupidest idea ever, it got sticky in the sun. Washed that out and used my tyre blackener (I had a little sponge one), and now it works like new.

Speak to Stav (useless) on these forums. He has helped me put rear power windown in my wagon. I am sure he could put power windows in yours.

It's a bit of work but the concept is simple enough. Easier and cheaper to run new lines rather than swap looms.

To AU Falcon 99 I cant believe it would cost that much to add power windows

It could cost that ($1000.00). I have been buying parts of ebay and have spent nearly $300.00 already and dont have all the parts (3 door switches 1 window winder & 1 loom) still have to get 4 door cards 3 window winders 3 looms & one main switch, so it is possible it will cost that much. I think I will stick to windup and put my money into my XD with AU Engine and Trans.

Many thanks guys youv'e been a big help.

Why not take some good advice offered to you by CHIEF in post No.5.

Get in touch with AFF member, USELESS and ask his advice as he has done it before. He would probably be able to give you a ball park price as well. He is set up in his own business and is very obliging.

To get his email or pm details, go to the top of the page, click on Members List, and just scroll down till you get to his name. (Page 2. I think)

You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain
