I just love people, Madaz is doing the right thing by being on TV, but Ford is also doing the right thing by not being on TV with Falcon. Truly????????????? Good lord, a car is a car for!!! We are not comparing a car with a sex video. The same family’s that are buying Madaz 3 for the wife (or husband) also need a large family car (weather that be an SUV or Falcon or Commodore or Madaz6, etc), the same people are all sitting there watching. This is where selecting the right show for your target segment comes into play.

And my final post in this topic (And I’ve said it before, but we say it again).. It is not just about TV, Ford need to do a total media campaign for Falcon across several different media types. The radio stuff that started this week are great, now they need to follow this up with a bit of TV, paper, website, billboard, something for fleet managers like a mail out or something? But the major part of all this is the TV, it forms awareness of a given “message” & then all the other forms of media compliment that TV add. TV gets people thinking or your product, other forms of media go into a bit detail. They go hand in hand. One without the other is a half baked effect..

People here something on the radio, now they see a billboard, now they are surfing the web & it comes up again... Now they see a TV add!! Then they visit www.ford.com.au & the same messages are being said again. All of a sudden people know your product.. The radio adds alone does create some awareness, but you need to go further.. And allot of the other different media types are very cheap to do or free.

Of that “high percentage” how many would consider buying a Falcon if they did? Not many.

i don't agree that the ad influenced you to buy a falcon. you admit you had already made that decision.

Have they advertised on a radio station that has listeners under the age of 80?

I've heard nothing on Fox, MMM or Nova just to name a few.

Lol. maybe they are focussed on people with money...and it's the highest rating station after Fox iirc. And if you're on the road for long periods you won't beat 3AW for traffic info. I think I've heard the ad on Nova as well.

This is different to the new "hightech ecolpi Falcon MKII" ad.

I only found out about the 50th anniversary model after seeing an ad on TV. I then looked it up on the web.

And eventually I bought one

Some of them may have money but being in a nursing home suffering from alheimers ain't going to help Ford sell cars.

They must be selective with which stations they advertise on.

Maybe it will. Buy a car one day, then they come back the next day and buy another car, then come back the next day and buy another car... .

Ramp up! How about this. The most advanced vehicle in the Ford Aus Range for the last year and a bit has been the MC Mondeo. Its also one of the most economical mid size cars out there. choice of 3 engines not to mention the 1st application of ecoboost in a Ford vehicle for sale in Australia. When was the last anyone saw of an MC mondeo ad on TV??? Still Thinking??? Well Guess what? THERE IS NO COMMERCIAL FOR THE MOST ADVANCED VEHICLE FOR SALE IN AN AUSTRALIAN FORD SHOWROOM TODAY!!!!! That in its own right is embarrassing to the brand. They could write a book on how to screw things up.

They have been playing the same ad non-stop on SEN all week, but pushing the petrol ute not the LPI. Lots of tradies listen to SEN, most of them drive utes... Targeting the right demographic I'd say.

Yeah prydey i take your point mate. Only I have actually been looking for a car for over 12 months, because i could not make up my mind whether to get a new focus (which the missus demanded on) or wait for XR8 to be reborn ( i still believe).

Point is until the wife saw this stunning car on tv in Her! favorite colour, another Falcon was just my wish. Her words were "Wow that looks awesome what about one of those" Lucky for me she saw that ad or i would be wearing a cardigan and driving a focus now (still a good car i know)

Ford just needs the right ads to get people to want a Falcon.

What about seeing interior shot of wifey and 2.8 kids wrapped up safely in a big new ecolpi xr6 with bluetooth, ipod, reverse sensors, climate control, traction control, most of the mod cons and safety she wants, then a sexy exterior shot of XR badge, big rims, great lines of a new FG that WE want. Then pan out to a corolla sitting at a servo while this Big Safe Economical Aussie made car drives past.

Ford just needs to talk it up a bit in my opinion

Sounds like Ford listened to the critisizm on Facebook and made good on their promise to do something about it.
I think if you look back over the years, the level of advertising on falcon has seen a parallel decline with sales,
either it symptomatic or causative, I'm of the opinion that Falcon needs "push" advertising to work.

Even the all powerful Coca Cola and McDonalds need to keep there marketing constant, in fact now that I think about it, what product has miniscule advertising and leads it's segment? Anyone think of one?

I'd add the wife buying something with the money saved on fuel while driving the bigger, safer FG! Maybe even if they're in the same servo, where the wife gets change from her fuel purchase and offers it to the Corolla owner who hasn't got enough cash to pay the fuel bill!

EXCATLY!!

Which is why I've been worried about the lack of marketing for Falcon. So if I see Ford giving the Falcon some good marketing dollars, I might be a bit more up beat about its further. It is the symbolic meaning behind the marketing dollars (or lack of) that is important for me.

Your argument doesn't hold water.....lol
It's even more counter productive to spend $232 million of your own money
and then deliberately kill off a product cycle early without recouping the investment.

They are not trying to kill the falcon - it is dying a natural death. And do you mean Evian ?
