well the time has come, tomorrow i start making my new bonnet. at times i thought i'd never get to this point.
the outer & inner moulds are all waxed & the infill mould is still a couple of coats away from being waxed but they will be right for gelcoating in the morning.

plenty of pics to follow in the next week as my new bonnet is made

got some good progress today. after a late night getting things ready i was off to work at 6am to get started.
first up gelcoating the 3 moulds in black, inner mould shown

then i put the first layer of glass on

once this was done and they were dry it was back home with them to continue.
after letting them harden some more i gave them a good sand to get ready for the next layer.

next up was the 2nd layer on the infill panel & the remaining layers on the buldge area

once this was done it was time to cut the hinge studs out of the doner bonnet & get them ready to glass in the inner side.

the hinge studs & bonnet catch sitting in position

Thanks Gary....

more progress today, started by demoulding the infill panel & marking it out ready to trim to size.

after trimming i stuck sticks around it to support it in position

some fine tuning to get it to fit right & it sits nice & neat.

next up was to flowcoat the inside of the buldge in black.

then refited the infill panel & glassed tabs on to keep it in place.

when these were dry i removed the sticks & glassed the rest of it so it was completely sealed.
this is the 100th pic for hte bonnet

next step, i lightly ground the egde on both halves where i was to put the joining bond, this was so i didnt get any dust on fresh glass.

a close up

next up was to fix the hinge brackets & bonnet catch in place, using a resin based bog & glass over the top.

all the attachments in

next was to apply the joining bond.

it was then time to join the 2 halves together, this turned out to be a longer & more difficult task than i thought as i couldn't get them to sit how i wanted. i ended up demoulding the top half from the mould so i could get them together.
pegs come in handy.

after letting it dry untill the next afternoon i then cleaned up the edges & gave the top side a sand with 400 wet & dry, after washing it down i took the pic.

i then demoulded the underside.
pic is fresh out of the mould.

not concerned about look atm as if it get through the trial peroid on the car without any problems it wiil be painted.
i hope to be able to get it on the car tomorrow afternoon to see if it fit ok.

Where are the holes?
On the underside it looks solid and there is no air passing from the scoop into the engine bay.
Or was it just done for looks?
