Default Anyone caught over the easter holidays?

This is just a poll to see if anyone got caught over these holidays with the boys in blue yearly double demerit point reward. I don't think I got caught but i saw a couple lying around the place

P.S. before anyone says anything I am not bitching about speed cameras this is just to get an idea of how much more people get caught over these holidays.

Although there was a fairly large police presence this weekend, I did not have a single issue...

Although I think I may have been done by a camry with a speed camera parked on the side of the road... I was in an unfamilar area and wasn't sure of the speed limit :S

My GT is in the shed and up on blocks with no weels under her. getting big birthday clean. Ford fixing paint flake on rims, new rotors and pads and then off for new tyres, then off to Warrick for a new clutch. Perhaps next easter.

I drove around a fair bit this weekend and didn't even see one "mobile" camera BUT what i did see was that there were speeding idiots EVERYWHERE......

Speeding Idiot in a 1982 Toyota Corolla
Speeding Idiot in a 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer
Various Speeding Idiots in 4WD's
Various Speeding Idiots in their Work Vans

Also saw aftermath of 4 intersection Accidents, dont people know what a Red Light Means

Only saw one police car having pulled someone up, but not cameras. Hope I didnt get photographed if I happened to slightly stray over the limit, or missed a sign.

Wouldnt know until a couple of weeks time.

Would be much more effective if the police were more visible. A camera wont stop anyone killing themselves or someone else, if they were driving stupidly.

I did nearly run into a young guy in a blue commie ute though, who went straight through a give way sign at some speed right in front of me. He then veered over again almost right into me. What use is a speed camera to catch these idiots? Lucky I have good brakes on the Ghia. I know the ABS still works. And I was within the speed limit.

Thinking about it now, perhaps the logic of speed cameras is that it doesn't matter if people drive stupidly, its OK, provided you are within the speed limit so you can stop in time.

Yeah in WA you only get caught if you are stupid enough to head to the overcrowded and often overrated destinations a few hours south of Perth.

20 killed hay, yeah cracking down and lifting fines has really worked hasn’t it.

I head north most Easters and spend most of the time off-road, but along the Grate Northern once above Dalwallinu sit on between 115-130 with the Off-road trailer in tow no worriers.

Which is just another example of crap speed limits buy the WA government a lot of that HWY can be done at 130+ quite safely in today’s car’s and 4WD’s but yet it’s got a 110 limit.

Was probably a little more careful this time of year than the usual weekends (yeah yeah I know, should be more careful all the time...)..

There were quite a few cameras and police cars between Willowbank (drags) and Morayfield Friday night.

Had a bit of a shock as I rounded one corner (quite a sharpish corner and you can't see a thing till completely round), there was a police car with lights flashing and a commodore parked in front (saw the commy out at the drags also but not on the actual strip) :
The reason it was sort of a shock was because I had to make sure not to run the officer over as they were both parked on the edge of the road but not quite over enough and were still slightly in the lane I was travelling in

If you believe what is written in that web site you would be excused for thinking that if nobody ever broke the speed limit, there would never be any road deaths. If that is how the Victorian government thinks then the road toll will only ever go in one direction --- up.

Hey Fiery, this is a really interesting comment. When you say "Was probably a little more careful this time of year" does this mean that you spent more time focusing on the speedo? Or more time concentrating on your surroundings? I'm not criticizing your driving in any way. But if you think about it, who is more dangerous? Someone that concetrates hard on their speedo to avoid a fine, or someone that glances now and then as part of an awareness routine, but spends much more time keeping a safe watch around them?

I think that this is where speed camera's are bad news. They reward bad driving habits and penalise a sensible approach to driving safety. JMHO.

Cheers all.

How can anyone remember precisely by this information where each and every one of these cameras are, (there's a list 60 pages long there!)especially in unfamiliar areas?
Just another excuse so they can say "We told you where they are".
The list is mostly meaningless.

Yep, the camera that I think got me, isn't even on the List (Station RD, Albanvale)

And the cameras on the list in my hometown, aren't there anymore...

To be honest with you I was more unsafe driving than usual simply because you are right, I watched that stupid speedo fiercely yet that also made me realise how much time I wasn't aware of my surroundings so to speak.

I am usually extremely careful of my surroundings more than I am of the speedo (hence why having to be extremely careful, 3 fines of about 5 to 10klms over in the previous year). Yes there was also a rather high one in that year also but that was just sheer stupidity at its best that particular day.

So, I do agree with your opinion totally

We shall find out in the comming weeks but should be fine. I only got pulled over for the RBT today on the way home from the coast.

Funny how they let all the shitboxes drive past and then they see a young person in a WRX and pull me straight in.

I thought I had seen it all, but then I saw a camera car parked in the bush : I can bet that pretty much none of the revenue it raised will go back into that road.

I think next holidays I will go somewhere where I can fly. Too many people who have no clue about how to drive and can't be courteous to their fellow road users.

Pet hate is those who are towing which can't pull over every now and again to let the congestion past. 40+ cars have to do between 40-100km/h (sometimes dead stopped) because ONE person with their boat can't pull over to let people past. I used more petrol on the highway than I usually use around home.

nope, but i wish they were out in force last night

doing the run from geelong to melb airport back to geelong, i had to take evasive action against so many cars i lost count......it was honestly like running a gauntlet.....enough to make you wonder how they got their licence....

one that stood out on the way home was an L plater in a mits pajero, full of people that were all mucking around, was sitting right on my bumper, flashed its lights at me a couple of times so i just touched the brakes enough to make the brake lights come on, with that they reefed into the next lane and cut me off as they came back into my lane, where they proceded to disapear out of site....... i mean hell i was doing 105 in a 100 zone and this was an L plater.

its just nuts

The only thing I got caught in was the traffic this weekend...it was horrendous! I couldn't believe the number of cars on the roads. Over the whole weekend I only saw 1 cop......

On the 2.5 hour drive back to my parent's place, I went past a few cop cars, and a couple of speed cameras. I went past one of the speed cameras at 101 in a 100km zone, so I hope my speedo is accurate.
