I was looking on the net the other night and saw an 1989 mustang 5.0 that had 240 thousand miles on the clock since new and i was wondering if their are any high mileage falcons out there that are still going strong on their original engines?
i have an EB series 2 that has 414413kms that i bought second hand and my old man has a 1978 XC fairmont station wagon that has 220687kms on the original engine. i think the guiness world record is for a Volvo P1800 with 1.3 million! |

My dads old 1974 LTD had just over 500,000 kays before it died. Original driveline too. Wayne's (madnc_8) hilux might put that record too shame tho!

I've got 290,000 on the clock of my '94 EF, still going strong with original engine, maybe throw in a BA motor when it goes. Would you class that as 'high milage?'

I've had my 1989 EA GL for 2 weeks now, and it has 342 XXX on the clock. As you'd prolly kno mine did have a inoperable odometer until last night when I fixed it.
It has a reco'd HM GEM motor in it fitted at 310 XXX (got paper work). The mighty 1989 HG Galant GSR was purchased at 137 XXX km, and now has a healthy 259 XXX km. Replaced motor at 194 XXX (my fault), and it's now needing it's 3rd gearbox.. Good to kno my falcon's not the only wannabe taxi! lol |

my EA had 280,000 kms on it in 1998, still on the same engine and headgasket, 1 diff and 1 gearbox have blown, the rough estimate on km's is around 440-460,000 k's now. Still goes strong too. The last 6 odd years it has been flogged by 2 P platers haha.

My Verada is upto 288,000kms and still going alright, uses a little bit of oil but still has some balls for the 3lt V6
The EL well she has low kms she is just about to click over 130,000kms, not bad for a 1996 model and she dont use a drop of oil, and dont leak any either. She will be around for a good four years yet. |

This all makes my 357500km '88 Pintara seem like a spring chicken...
(then again, it's on it's third engine, which isn't exactly healthy, I think it blew a HG, and I've been driving it around until I can afford a replacement) |

My EB Fairmont just rolled over to the magic 300,000kms mark. Doesn't use too much oil (rocker cover leak), does 10L/100kms if I drive it like my grandma, and definatly on it's original engine and head. Might even be on it's original HG, doesn't really look like it's been changed.
Must do the valve steam seals one day though... |

I know of a couple of fairlanes that have been used as hire cars that have wound the clock before being disposed of. The NL was still on original motor and only 2nd box.
These cars are doing between 600 - 1000kms per day 5 days a week.

My EL falcon is still on its original motor, with original trans thats about to die in the next couple of days. It has done 970,000 kms. Waiting on it to hit the magic million. So far theres no problems with it (touchwood) and it drives ok, gets kaned every day. Obviously an ex cab.
