The Calypso Green XA Falcon GT HO Phase 4 - surely would have to be the rarest car in Australian motor history (i wonder what it's insured for lol).
Does anyone know what the badge on the side is (above the obvious 351 GT)?

Nice!
Looks like one of those metal Cobra badges...don't know if it's original fitment or not, but plenty of people back in the early eighties used to put them on thier Falcons. |

Hello Ford XA falcon GT HO PHASE 4 CALYPSO GREEN ...In 1974 my friends Brother bought the XA from a car dealer on Parramatta rd...Myself along with The owners brother Alex Spiteri. I sat in the back seat with Trevor and Sharon in the middle. And we went off looking for a friend that had a GTHO Blue ute.to give him a run The was in Georges Hall. We couldn't find my friend in the HO UTE. So I told Alex's brother about a quarter mile stretch of rd Harley Crs Condell Park. I t was about 5 pm.He lined it up and away we went Looking out the back you could see the pipes light up. As he changed Gears the body would go forward then slam you back into the seat. Before we new it 130 mph...One problem came up we ran out of road.. Harley was a P shaped Cres..Turning to the left on goes the brakes still no more road let. We hit the kerb right hand front wheel, then air bourne for about what felt like 50 ft. We where lucky the factories had not been built at the time. We stopped up right. Apart from Sh-tting our self's. And Sharon Fingernails cut into mine and Trevor's wrists we where all OK . Only damage to the XA GT was the drivers stub axle. We where able to get it back to Georges hall. Just as My other friend Drove by in his GTHO UTE. This is all fair dinkum I think he still owns it. As I remember him living near Botany Bay and I think he was a dentist. Your B W HALL

I can tell you that the XA you were in, DEFINITELY WASN'T the XA GTHO Phase IV. As you have now purchased the magazines, you would have seen the complete history of the Phase IV and the actual people who have owned and when they have owned it. There never has been anyone by the name of Alex Spiteri that has owned the XAGTHO Phase IV. It would have been a similar XA GT that you were in that day and that is all but thanks for sharing your story though ![]() Cheers Roy

We're lucky that cars like this survive unmolested and kept original...
![]() Anyone else remember the old advert for Castrol oil from Street Machine magazine, must have been back in the mid 1980's? It had a mulleted tough guy standing proudly beside a Monaro. The advert said his grandfather bought it brand new, and only drove it occasionally, then when he died, it was left to him. He was very proud..."a genuine GTS-350 Bathurst Monaro, with low mileage and totally original". Then he proceeds to tell us how he flared the guards, changed all the suspension, did up the motor, repainted it metallic gold with no stripes, and modified everything else. Sorry bucko...you've just stuffed a priceless piece of Astralian motoring history that had been entrusted to you, and now future generations will be robbed of the chance to see one in original condition. Thanks a lot... |

Why so cheap? I want the money, honey! Or maybe just put "offers" on the window and drive it up to junkfood junction with all the VN's and skylines for sale and see who rings up?
