I've not heard the Vic numbers today but if it is 17 deaths then yes it's more than the 15 of a few days ago.

Without counting those, Australia had 77 deaths this last week, far and away the worst week yet and 38% higher than last week and there will sadly be slightly higher mortality numbers again this week given the case numbers over the last three weeks.

The chart below depicts the case and mortality data since March for Australia - note that the case data is logarithmic so that both data sets can be scaled on the one graph:



.. and the same chart for the last month only which shows that the trend for case numbers is starting to turn downward although the trend for deaths isn't and probably won't given the lag between case identification and death.
