Default Re: Replacing antenna assembly

Hi. The AP5 comes with a bracket that bolts to the base of the antenna and picks up the factory mounting stud below the antenna on the inner guard (you may need to supply a 6mm nut). Fitting is easy as pie, turn wheels hard left lock and remove mudflap and the back of the plastic stone shield, use a 10mm socket to remove the 6mm bolt and pull the antenna down from the guard. go inside the car and disconnect the antenna cable near the end of the dash and then from outside ease the rubber cable gland out of the hole in the inner guard. mount bracket onto motor with the earth wire from the motor as well and push the antenna up into the factory plastic mount in the guard and sit the bracket over the stud under the antenna. Use the factory bolt to earth the antenna pole (short wire attached near the top of the antenna) to the lockdown mounting bracket holt. pass the antenna cable and 2 wires into the car ( may need to re-use the original cable gland) and plug in the antenna cable. Run the red and the green wires to the radio and using the memory wire provide a feed for the red wire and use the blue wire from an aftermarket radio or the red/blue antenna trigger wire from the factory radio (check with a test light) to the green wire on the antenna. Check that it works by turning on the radio and adjust the bottom bracket in needed and refit the trim and mudflap. Beer time. Cheers MD
PS: never seen a factory power antenna that didn't take an ap12 there was another antenna that replaced the factory full auto unit that is NLA, it might pay to ring around and see if anyone has some old stock. Cheers
