As someone who flies frequently, I don' think (and hope this won't be) the case. The big whale makes the trip that bit more pleasant (and without it being 100% booked, more often than not can sit with an empty seat next to you). I specifically pick flights on the A380 wherever possible, including Sydney-Dallas, Sydney-Singapore, and Sydney-London.
Several years ago I'd even hop on to the Emirates Sydney-Auckland flight that was served by the A380 (I think that's been dropped now)
