Data valid as at 00:00 GMT week ending February 2nd 2024.
Australia had 44,258 case numbers and 89 deaths so the CMR is 0.204% (-) but that’s a big jump in case numbers over last week.
NZ reported 5,757 cases and
25 deaths for a CMR of 0.212% (UP). That’s a 17.8% decrease on last week.
83,699 new cases in the USA this week and
1,567 deaths for a CMR of 1.078% (-).
Europe passes 253M cases.
Global case numbers are down to
290,295 this week compared to the
363,143 last week and the number of deaths
increased from
2,362 last week to
4,589 this week. I’ve shortened the time frame to 6 months for the graphs below to make the movements clearer.
The movement in global case numbers should be viewed with the consideration that 88 of the 229 countries to have reported cases are no longer reporting including some that had significant case numbers like Austria, Belarus, Costa Rica, Cuba, Denmark, DPRK, France, Georgia, Greece, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and South Korea.
For those who think it's now all over, the last quarter has still shown some countries with significant case numbers and/or deaths per 100k of population, including Australia and New Zealand:
